2025 FALL Recreational League Play U6-U10 [5-9 yrs, Kinder to 4th grades]

Mersey Soccer Club has served the Berkeley community since 1985. This is our 40th year of providing high-quality youth soccer experiences to our players & families! Mersey's licensed, professional coaches are supervised & supported by Mersey founder, Bill O'Donnell.

The Mersey Soccer Club FALL recreational league play season runs from August 18th to November 2nd. Space is limited on each team, so sign-up today!

Age 5 years (U6 - Kindergarten): Team Dragon Step Two Premium
This program offers a natural progression from our Team Dragon Step One class for 3-5 year olds, placing greater emphasis on teamwork, passing, shooting, and dribbling skills. Our youngest Mersey League players learn the rules of the game, and develop a positive attitude towards friendly competition.
  • 1-hour weekday practice is included
  • 1.5-hour weekend practice + 4v4 game on Saturdays or Sundays at 10am or 11:30am

Ages 6-7 years (U7-U8 - 1st & 2nd grades)
Our Mersey League players continue to hone their basic soccer skills, while having fun on a team, and deepening their love for the game.
  • One weekday 1.5-hour practice
  • One weekend game
  • Game details: U7 4v4, no goalkeeper & U8 5v5, including goalkeeper; two 20-minute halves

Ages 8-9 years (U9-U10 - 3rd & 4th grades) 
At this stage of development, players will learn about team formation and shape. Players begin to process the importance of spatial awareness and begin to understand that “clumping” is not the best way to play soccer.
  • Two weekday 1.5-hour practices
  • One weekend game
  • Game details: 7v7, including a goalkeeper; two 25-minute halves

Practice Locations: Tom Bates Regional Sports Complex | King Middle School Track & Field | San Pablo Park | Ohlone Middlefield [others, based on field availability]

Mersey Soccer Club uniforms are mandatory for all our players. Information for how to purchase a Mersey uniform will be provided upon registration.
